Would you believe me if I told you I have always been a certified plant killer? Because nothing is more truthful. When I told my husband my dreams of a farm, he laughed so hard he literally spit his water out! Guys. I am serious. Every single plant I owned, I murdered. Now here we are with not only a giant garden, but a thriving garden. WHAT THE WHAT?!
A big chunk of our land is filled with fruit trees, raised veggie beds, and so many flowers that I’ll likely never remember all of the names. One thing I can tell you is the ridiculous amount of time I’ve spent with my hands in the dirt, and a big ol’ smile on my face. Don’t ever think you’re too old or it’s too late to learn something you’ve always wanted to learn, because I have found a new hobby at 40 years old and I’m not letting a single excuse stop me! I research and study, I ask one million questions, and I fail, often. Many a plants have died but for every fail, I’ve had 10 successes! I trust that I am moving in the right direction when it comes to growing things because I refuse to give up.
One really important factor around here is that our garden is 100% organic. We use absolutely no commercial pesticides or fertilizers, and instead use the power of essential oils and organic means to help our garden grow and thrive. Sure, sometimes it means we deal with more bugs and less yield, that the grass isn’t always perfect, and the weeds need to be hand picked, but it’s worth it because we have the comfort in knowing it’s safe for us, and for anyone that comes to the farm for a visit.
